When a person thinks of the term DIVA, it is typically synonymous with beauty, fashion, strength, class, and all-around style. Who exudes more diva-esque qualities than make-up artists, hairstylists, and wardrobe stylists? After all, they are the reason today’s favorite celebrities go from looking like they just rolled out of bed, to looking like they just walked off the runway. They should, in fact, themselves be referred to as celebrities. Now thanks to Quan Lanae Green and the Diva Beauty Creators, those previously unknown stylists and artists are represented as the high profile celebrities they truly are.
Not unlike today’s high profile celebrities, the lifestyle of a celebrity make-up artist, hair, or wardrobe stylist is super hectic. From dealing with multiple clients with various temperaments, to traveling from one end of the city to the next in an effort to make an appointment, their day is very typical of that of a celebrity. So it is no wonder that stylist/artist’s schedules and their lives need help being managed by someone who has their best interests in mind. They too have to negotiate their own business deals. Celebrity stylist/artist’s need a representative in their corner to help them navigate their way to new opportunities they might not have found on their own.
Ladies and gents, take note as Quan Lanae Green tells It’s Right Hair readers how she stepped up her entrepreneurial game and created the hot niche agency Diva Beauty Creators/DBC. Be inspired, be enlightened, be educated, and above all…be beautiful.![]()
1. Who or what inspired you to start your agency Diva Beauty Creators?
Diva Beauty Creators started out as a mobile spa/salon that provided in-home pampering parties, appropriately called “Diva Parties”. I started doing these parties because I feel that it’s needed for women. It’s a fabulous way to bond with our girlfriends, while being made to feel and look beautiful. DBC didn’t become an agency until our clients began asking for us to refer Makeup Artists and Stylists to them. One thing lead to another and the agency was born!
2. Tell us a little more about what your agency does?
DBC represents celebrity Makeup Artists, Hairstylists, and Wardrobe Stylists. These high profile artists have a need for representation because: they have very busy schedules, work hard at what they do, and take their careers very seriously. They are different from lesser known artists and stylists, because they have a strong celebrity clientele. With this comes the need for someone to work on their behalf and make sure deals are being negotiated, no one is getting ripped off, and careers are managed effectively.
3. Are you only available for events?
No, I’m available for anything dealing with beauty, fashion, and making women feel fabulous!
4. What is your definition of a DIVA?
A DIVA is a woman who is confident, realizes her power as a woman, takes care of her business, and inspires others to be like her. Diva’s are spiritually grounded, have a great relationship with God, and are fearless
5. Tell us about a situation that made you proud to be the owner of D.I.V.A Beauty Creators?
There are a lot of larger agencies out there, especially in New York and LA. But, a lot of celebrity artists and stylists choose to leave larger agencies to be represented by me. Every time they tell me this, it makes me feel proud to be the owner of DBC. The truth is, other agencies have to many clients on there rosters; therefore, they leave a lot of clients in the dust, as their top artists and stylists get all the work.
6. Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I have a strategic plan in place; and, within the next five years, you will see my agency being opened up across seas.
7. Tell us something about yourself we do not know.
I am not a Makeup Artist or Stylist! Everyone thinks that! I’ve done hair and makeup for friends and family, but I never aspired to be a Makeup Artist or Stylist. I just represent them. I’m the best at pairing the right client with the perfect artist or stylist.
8. Who was the first celebrity you worked with?
Kevin Hart was the first client I landed for a Makeup Artists and Wardrobe Stylist I represent.
9. Do you still become star-struck?
No, absolutely not! To be honest with you, most celebrities get on my nerves! There’s a lot of stress that comes along with working with celebrities. When I do business with celebrities, it only makes me happy because my clients are proud to work on them. I would prefer to work with everyday women myself.
10. Last, but not least, the I.R.H question! What is your favorite hair product or tool to use?
When it comes to hair products, I am not committed to one. These days, I’m leaning towards all-natural hair and skincare. I just made an apple cider vinegar rinse and I was amazed at how shiny and healthy it made my hair look. I suggest women stop using commercial products and make their own! That’s how our people used to do it back in the day, and I believe that’s the type of beauty that we need to go back to…which is why I’m opening an agency in Africa!

The Lace Front Wig

The lace-front wig is like Nike — everyone is doing it. They’re the new coiffure trend in the celebrity world. Why not when they’re so convenient, classy, beautifully natural-looking, and let’s not forget they’re easy to install.
Based upon my research, lace-fronts come in any style, color, and length that you can dream. When it comes to the type of hair available, your choices begin with human and synthetic hair. The price range for a good lace-front wig is from $50-$1500. Price is based on quality, length and whether it is custom made. Yes — I said custom made. After a couple easy measurements, you select your hair, color, lace material, and you send it to the company of your choice. They create your custom lace-front wig and send to you for installation.
When it comes down to the types of textures you can choose for your hair, they are: Indian remy, Chinese remy and even virgin hair — hair that has not been processed. The lace which comes in different colors gives the hairline a natural look as if it was your own. It also gives you a sense of confidence and beauty, especially if you don’t have a full hairline due to vigorous hair pulling to the back or any medical conditions like alopecia or chemotherapy.
I took it upon myself to head over to the local beauty supply store to get a feel for these “lace wigs”. I must say I was overwhelmed. There were so many colors and styles to choose from. I kept it simple and went with the basic #1b (black) straight style. As I sat in the chair, I was a bit nervous as I was watching the lady brush and comb the wig. Once she put it on my head, she lined it up with my hairline, she: clipped the two combs in the front, attached the back, cut the lace to fit my hairline and I was off with my new look in less than 10 minutes. I was feeling like a brand new woman.
There are also different ways to attach the wigs. Depending on your comfort level, they can be glued or taped at the hairline. There are always new hair systems coming about, but this one hit the nail right on the head. If you head over to the Hair Directory here at It’s Right Hair, you will find listings for certified lace wig stylists featured there.
So, it’s a new year. Find the new you! Invest in your own beautiful lace front wig today.
